Cooperation with Media Freedom Coalition

We are happy to announce that the Media and Communication Educational and Research Center (MCERC) has started collaborating with the international organisation Media Freedom Coalition’s Consultative Network. In particular, MCERC is now on the organisation’s group of civil society organisations (MFC-CN CSO list). We are proud to announce that MCERC has become the first civil organisation from Georgia to collaborate with the Media Freedom Coalition, in such a format.

The Media Freedom Coalition - Consultative Network (MFC-CN), created in January 2020, is a group of national, regional and international organisations. The members of the consultative network are the following organisations: Article 19, Media Action Nepal, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), DW Akademie, Free Press Unlimited (FPU), International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), International Press Institute (IPI), Internews, Public Media Alliance (PMA), Reporters sans Frontières (RSF), The Guardian, etc. (22 organisations in total).

MFC-CN in collaboration with a much broader set of civil society groups, voluntarily provides advice to the MFC and facilitates the selection of cases that it believes require state intervention. The members of the CSO list are the following organisations: Alliance for Journalists’ Freedom, Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI), American Bar Association, Association of European Journalists (AEJ), BBC Media Action, Freedom House, International News Safety Institute (INSI), International Press Centre (IPC), International Women Media Foundation (IWMF), Journalists for Human Rights (JHR), Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD), Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ), Global Voices, Open Society Foundations (OSF), PEN America etc., (61 organisations). We are proud to have MCERC join the team.

Among other topics, consultative Network works on urgent cases, cases of concern and situations of concern (media environment) worldwide.

Our special thanks to Media Freedom Coalition Consultative Network Co-chair Laxman Datt Pant and all 22 members of the consultative network for their unanimous support.
