Webinar "Careers of the Future and Digital Transformations"

On February 11, UNESCO celebrates International Day of Women and Girls in Science for the seventh time. To mark the occasion, the Media and Communication Education and Research Center (MCERC), LAB Technologies and Forbes Women held a joint webinar titled "Careers of the Future and Digital Transformations". The aim of the webinar was to encourage equal involvement of women and girls in science, technology and innovation.


The speakers of the webinar included:


🔸 Mariam Gersamia - Full Professor (TSU), Founder and Chairwoman of MCERC, Mariam spoke about the ways in which media can change gender stereotypes in science, technology and innovation and reduce discrimination. Also, she spoke about the role of media in enhancing digital literacy and security.

🔸 Anna Kachiuri, CEO of LAB Technologies, spoke about why greater involvement of women in STEM areas is important in the era of digital transformation and also provided an overview of the realities of the region. Also, Anna spoke about the impact of technology on future professions.

🔸 Ana Tavadze, a contributor of the Forbes Woman, spoke about how business and economy is changing and going digital along with the political environment. Also Ana spoke about who are the digital reality engineers and the imbalance between technology development and the knowledge / skills of technology users as well as about the importance of increasing involvement of women and girls in this process.


The webinar was held in an online format and attended by students, representatives of academia and non-governmental organizations, teachers, etc.


International Day of Women and Girls Involved in Science has been celebrated by UNESCO and UN Women since 2015. It aims to encourage equal involvement of women and girls in science, technology and innovation (including education, employment and decision-making) as well as elimination of discrimination; overcoming existing legal, economic, socio-cultural barriers, promoting career advancement of women in the field of science and recognition of their achievements.
