on February 18, MCERC chairwomen Dr. Mariam Gersamia in partnership with Media Action Nepal conducted a mentoring session for 31 international fellows/journalists on topic “Identifying & preparing gender sensitive stories”.
Mariam Gersamia spoke about strategies for changing gender stereotypes and media language, covering accurately domestic violence and the role of media in gender socialisation process. The session was followed by Q&A and discussion.
This mentoring programme provides an opportunity to selected fellows to develop newsroom and reporting strategies for promoting gender sensitivity in the media content. Based on the accepted pitches, each participant will prepare/produce and disseminate two in-depth stories covering various dimensions of gender equality.
